Making Spirits Bright

Making Spirits Bright is a drive-through holiday lights show in Sheboygan’s Evergreen Park. It is open to the public from 5:00 – 9:00 PM each night November 27 to December 31, 2015 (closed on Christmas Eve, Dec. 24). Admission is free. Pantry item donations, collected at the beginning of the route, are requested to help stock the Sheboygan County Food Bank. Cash donations support future growth and maintenance of this event, in addition to being distributed to local organizations through grant requests.

Celebrate the holidays with family and friends in the warmth of your vehicle when you drive the 1.1 mile forested route and enjoy animated and still displays with hundreds of thousands of lights choreographed to music heard through your radio at 89.1 FM. Experience entertainment, concessions, visits and photos with Santa, wreath raffles, and more when you visit Quarryview Center directly across from the park on Thursday through Sunday nights. Trolley rides for $2 per person are offered Friday and Saturday nights.

We’re thrilled to announce that—due to a robust applicant pool and demonstrated need—we’re increasing the number of Levitt AMP finalists to the Top 25, and the number of grant winners to 15!

The time has come to rally your community to get as many online votes in support of your Levitt AMP [Your City] proposal as possible.  Community support, as measured by the number of online votes received, will be one of the key factors when Levitt Pavilions reviews the Top 25 finalists and selects the 15 winners. For example, last year, seven of the 10 Levitt AMP winners were ranked in the ten highest slots as determined by online public voting.

Keep It Simple

Keep It Simple IV” exhibit reception set for November, 12

Exhibit features local artist Keary Kautzer

The Sheboygan community is invited to visit the University of Wisconsin-Sheboygan Fine Arts Gallery for its latest art exhibition, “Keep It Simple IV” by local artist and photographer Keary Kautzer.  An opening reception is planned for Thursday, November 12, 2015, from 5 to 7 p.m. in the Fine Arts Gallery. The public is invited to attend.

Keary Kautzer works for the City of Sheboygan as the Director of WSCS.

Kautzer’s original paintings are mainly in watercolors, depicting water and landscape scenes, mostly painted en plein air in the style of the American Modernists.  Kautzer’s paintings are his visual record of where he has been and what he has seen.

Kautzer’s mentor, James Michael always stressed “Keep it simple,” and that is his goal with each painting.

Kautzer is a member of the Wisconsin Watercolor Society, Water’s Edge Artists, Transparent Watercolor Society of America, Wisconsin Plein Aire Painters Association, and the Sheboygan Visual Artists.

All artwork will be on display from November 2-30, 2015.  The Fine Arts Gallery is open Monday – Thursday from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Friday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and is located inside the Fine Arts Building on the University of Wisconsin-Sheboygan campus.
